Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Saratoga High School volunteers perform many tasks and provide activities for the staff and students that would otherwise be unavailable due to budget restrictions. Any time that you can spare would be appreciated.

Special Events and Activities
	Back to School Night	(Aug. 30, 6:45PM) Help to proof the Aeries form for new parents.
	Chaperone First Dance	Chaperone as needed for dances and special events. First dance is on Aug. 27th, and Homecoming dance on Oct. 1st. See PTSO calendar for other dances.

	Directory: Input/Update Data	(Sept/Oct) Work on the Falcon Directory to update the information in the front section; input data; proofread; and take to the printer.

	Food for Finals (Dec.)	(Dec./Jun.) Provide snacks for students during break at finals.

	Graduation Day Help	(June) Need Freshman (provide food on the day before Grad Night), Sophomore (provide water), and Junior parents (monitor quad) to help on Graduation.
	Graduation Night Helpers	(June)Need a lot of helpers for Senior Grad Night.
	Health or Career Fair Help	(Apr 2012) assist the week before in organization and on the day of on set-up, clean-up, host continental breakfast and catered luncheon.
	Homecoming - Election Help	Help during the school day to count Homecoming ballots one day during the Homecoming week in October.
	Homecoming 9th Grade	(Month of Sept.) Assist students of a class build a set. Help to gather supplies, provide food, help plan events, or provide building site. (Sept. 24th) Homecoming Quad Building

	Just Do It! Member Reception	(Feb 4) Organize evening of appetizers and drinks for our PTSO members and the SHS administration.
	Proctor: Exit Exam	(Jan/Feb) Assist Staff for high school exit exam. (Apr/May) Assist Staff for AP test. (needs many proctors.)

	School Wide Picnic	(Sept. 3) Help barbecue food, arrange tables, distribute lunch and clean up. Need lots of volunteers for this.
	Senior Award Night Chair	(Jun.) Organize cookie and punch reception that follows the award ceremony.

	Short Notice Volunteer	Help with activities or programs as need arises.
	Staff Appreciation Week	(May 9-13) Help with staff-recognition activities.
	Staff Luncheon Help	Help organize luncheons for teachers and staff (e.g. welcome back luncheon, holiday luncheon, etc.)
	Text Book Distribution	(Aug) Help distribute textbooks the first week of school. (Jun.) Collect textbooks.
	Text Book Collection
	Volunteer Appreciation Day	(Apr. 2012) Help organize the luncheon at school that honors exceptional volunteers.

Occasional Help Needed
	Emergency Student Housing - a few days	Provide long or short-term housing for students as needed.
	Emergency Student Housing - up to 2 weeks	Provide long or short-term housing for students as needed.
	Housing for Visitors and Exchange Students	Provide housing for varying periods of time.
	Library Aide	Help with various tasks in library/textbook room (usually beginning or end of school year).

Long Term Help
	9th Grade Class Rep	Be a resource to assist students and act as an advisor with class projects; also assist with staff appreciation week and graduation ceremony.
	10th Grade Class Rep
	11th Grade Class Rep
	12th Grade Class Rep
	College and Career Center	Assist in this student-parent resource center. Requires a 3-hour commitment each week. Staff list is compiled in June for the next academic year. Limited openings available in the fall.
